M i n i s t r y

At Good Shepherd, we believe the ministry and outreach in which we are involved is an outward sign of our faith community. We are a people who are nurtured, equipped and strengthened to share God's love as agents of transformation ... to make a difference.

From the blessings we have received, we offer our time, talent and treasure — actively participating in a variety of ministries and outreach programs. There are many different ways for parishioners of all ages and abilities to exercise their ministry within the parish, the community and, quite literally, around the world.

These opportunities, as well as new ones, are showcased in our annual Ministries Fair each Fall.

Liturgical ministries are centered around our various worship services. Lay people participate in ways that range  from preparing the altar to reading from scripture to administering home communion to those who are unable to attend church.

Whether it be leading adult studies or handing out cookies at Vacation Bible School, educational ministries offer a variety of possibilities for sharing our story and nurturing the spiritual development of others.

Both within and outside our parish family, there are many opportunities in lay pastoral care for reaching out to others in times of need.

Hospitality is the ministry of welcoming others into this faith community. Our unique expressions include yard signs announcing the birth of a child, dinners for new families and coordinating wedding and funeral details.

The various prayer groups that gather at Good Shepherd enrich our corporate prayer life. In various ways, each of them intercessions for  the needs and concerns of parishioners as well as those in the greater community.

Fellowship is the spice of our life at Good Shepherd. Parish life ministries — Dutch Treat Lunches, youth groups, St. Cecilia's Guild and other small groups like them — build the foundation for our whole community.

Mission and outreach are the hands of our parish reaching out to change the lives of others. Whether it be in our own city or a village in Haiti or a struggling church in Africa, our hands can make a difference.
