Whether
it be a morning stroll through the exhibits at McNeese State University, an
afternoon concert featuring the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra, or an evening
of community theatre, Lake Charles and southwest Louisiana offer a wide range of
rich cultural opportunities. You'll find many of Good Shepherd's members
actively involved in as well as attending these performances.
Here's a look at some of the community's arts organizations featured online.
General information
Arts & Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana — An organization dedicated to the principle that a thriving cultural community will enrich all our lives, enlightening and inspire us to break down barriers and build communities.
Calendars of Events
Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors' Bureau Calendar of Events — A comprehensive quarterly listing of concerts, theatre, dance, exhibits, festivals and other cultural events in southwest Louisiana.
The American Press Marquee — A comprehensive weekly listing of concerts, theatre, dance, exhibits, festivals and other cultural events for Lake Charles, southwest Louisiana and the region.
Organizations
Artists Civic Theatre & Studio (ACTS) — A community theatre under the direction of a full time professional theatre director that stages a full season of plays and musicals with adult actors from the community. It also operates the oldest student theatre in the Louisiana for after school theatre classes for students in grades three through nine. ACTS works in its 1905, converted silent movie house at One Reid Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where rehearsals, meetings, construction, and performances occur.
Lake Charles Community Band — A community band begun in February 1988 whose members perform numerous concerts around the Lake Area.
Lake Charles Little Theatre — A community theatre housed in The New Stable Playhouse on Enterprise Boulevard.
Lake Charles Symphony — The symphony annually showcases great music and features world-class soloists.

Gallery/Shearman Fine Arts Center —
The gallery at McNeese State University features
monthly exhibitions by students and faculty as well as visiting artists. It also
showcases the Annual National Works On Paper Exhibition and the Biennial National Ceramics Invitational.
The Shearman Fine Arts Center is the cultural heart of the campus, sponsoring a wide range of stimulating exhibitions, concerts, theater productions, and guest
lectures.
