Music
is a key ingredient in the recipe of our liturgy. Like that crucial dash of
spice, the diversity of the liturgy is complimented by the diversity of our
music.
From the awesome and glorious sounds of our pipe organ to the lively strummings of guitars and pianos — occasionally accompanied by the voices of brass, woodwinds, reeds and strings of violins — music brings a rich, harmonious voice to our liturgy.
Blended with musical expressions are the refined voices of our adult chancel choir and the younger voices of our smiling children's choir. Either way, they offer their music to the glory of God and bring a unique character to our worship and aid and entice the rest of us to join in singing.
This does not happen by chance but is
an intentional result of careful orchestration. Dr. Fred Sahlmann, the organist
and chancel choir director with years of experience, is often seen around the church preparing and
rehearsing. Pam Gabriel — an
organist and the children's choir director known
affectionately as "Miss Gabe" — dedicates hours to developing
the youngest voices into big expressions.
