Message from the Rector

Greetings and welcome to our web site, and hopefully, our fellowship! Our congregation’s heritage goes back over 115 years of life and ministry in the city of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Our historic and majestic church building has carried us through countless baptisms, celebrations of Holy Communion, marriages, funerals and special monuments of life with God and each other. As a newcomer to Good Shepherd, we offer you a beautiful place to worship, pray, sing and reflect - without pressure or expectation. We do however; pray for you in anticipation of your joining hands with us in our life and ministry together.

We are far from perfect, but we know our Good Shepherd and we are growing as his Good Sheep. Come and see. As we like to say, “At the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd there is always room for ewe!”

The Kingdom of God is expanding and I hope God leads you to make Good Shepherd your spiritual home. If you are joining us from another parish or denomination we will be glad to transfer your baptized membership to Good Shepherd. We encourage all to participate in our Newcomer programs and our Confirmation/ Reception class offered in preparation for our Bishop’s annual visit.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Your involvement here means everything and we want to make your transition into our congregation complete, so we can grow and move forward together under God’s call.
