PASTORAL CARE VISITORS MINISTRY

WHAT IS THE PASTORAL CARE VISITORS MINISTRY?

Pastoral Care Visitors are trained and licensed by the Diocesan Bishop to assist the clergy in visiting those who for extenuating circumstances are unable to attend Church on a regular basis. These volunteers are licensed as Eucharistic Visitors and are authorized to bring communion to those with whom they are visiting. These persons are well trained by the clergy of Good Shepherd; and they work closely with the clergy to ensure all members of the congregation can receive the sacrament of Holy Communion throughout the week. We presently have fourteen team members, who work in pairs for visitations. The team is scheduled and monitored by the clergy who prepare the elements of communion during a service of Holy Communion and then prepare the portable kits to be given to each team as they make their visit. Those with whom we visit also see a priest on a regular basis; keeping them in touch with both their Church family and their clergy. There are always opportunities to serve in this capacity; if you are interested in this type of ministry please contact the Church to talk to one of the clergy. If you know of someone who is in need of such services; we would be happy to put them on our schedule and make a visit.
